Top 5 Historical Places To Visit Rome Italy 2017

Colosseum  (Piazza del Colosseo00184 Rome, Italy)
Of course the Colosseum is a magnificent place and is well worth the visit. I would suggest booking beforehand and getting there very early to collect your tickets. If you can be one of the first people in its very peaceful for a short while and the atmosphere is almost electric when it's quiet. It will get very busy after 11am and the crowds of guided tours can be difficult to navigate around. I would also recommend going back in the evening as it's spectacular all lit up

Trevi Fountain
Great must visit place. Very busy but happy place with everyone smiling and throwing coins in the fountain. A good friendly vibe there although the constant whistle blowing is annoying to stop people sitting on the fountain edge or putting their hands in. I visited in the day and went back in the evening when it lit up which was fantastic. Some Italian music playing would be a lovely idea like the Bellagio fountains in las vegas

Piazza Navona  Navona / Pantheon / Campo de’ Fiori

the history of the piazza is so interesting, it used to be a 'circus arena' lovely walk and really pretty define must, An elegant space and lovely on a hot evening.
The fountains are magnificent and the surrounding buildings make a very attractive edge to the oval shaped piazza. You can visit the churches. There are many bistros and restaurants all around the edges of the piazza and it is a pleasant meeting place for locals ,Wonderful old race track of some old pope converted to a plaza. I believe a famous Bellini fountain that has managed to stay working for hundreds of years.

Roman Forum Piazza Santa Maria Nova, 5300186 Rome, Italy
This is without doubt the best attraction in Rome. We actually went on the first Sunday of the month (which is free) and had expected huge crowds but it was good. We went early in the morning and started walking through the Palatine Hill before dropping into the Roman Forum. Early morning is the best time to see it, when Rome is at its coolest while the crowds are a reasonable level. Make sure to have some info of the sites before you go - a travel guide or audio guide is fine. You will not be disappointed
Roman Forum

Palatine Hill
Bigger than I have imagined. A lot of impressive ruins. If there was disneyland back in the days, this will be it.after seeing the Colosseum since entry is included with the Roma Pass ticket. Entered through the Palatine hill entrance and took a left up the stairs. Only a handful of people around, which was a welcome break from the massive crowds at the rest of the forum. So much history and ancient architecture. There's even a contemporary art exhibit in the stadium with dozens of pieces spread across the site.
