Cape Rachado is a nice day/half-day trip where you get to mix a bit of hiking, beaches and views. You can reach the entrance by car or public transport then you will have to take a small hike up to the lighthouse.Tanjung Tuan is a famous spot for birders but not in January so it was a nice and quiet hike up to the Light House.lovely view but sad that the light house itself was off limits. It would be a real treat to see the coast from up there.

Sarawak Cultural Village LOCATION
Jalan Pantai DamaiKuching 93050, Malaysia
It is fantastic, the dance was so professional, each house is very different. It would be good to have a Malaysian price for it not just Sarawakian... need to be affordable for a family to learn about Malaysia culture.
Sarawak Cultural Village
George Town LOCATION
Malaysia.
Interesting mix of old and restored houses. Some of their famous street art has faded quite a bit but I guess it adds to the charm. George Town exceeded our expectations. There is a great atmosphere and we liked the eclectic mix of architectural styles. Its compact enough to easily cover on foot and there are lots of places to rest and take a drink. Plenty of small shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. The whole place has a quirky vibe to it that sits well with the historical and cultural mix.

Mamutik island is lovely. The sand is white and the water clear. But the island is too crowded- hundreds of Chinese tourists..It is pleasent place to enjoy the beaches and marine life by snorkeling and contact with sea fishes. Unfortunately, the island is too small and the number of visitors (especially noisy Chenese) is too large to enjoy they properly.

Probably the best of the easily reached and public islands off Tanjung Aru in terms of snorkelling - having said that, don't expect the Red Sea as the coral is limited and badly damaged nowadays. Still, things to see and good for an afternoon or so. Small beach, busy at weekends. Good cafe. Zip wire between Sapi and Gaya islands is different. Worth the trip but manage your expectations if snorkelling.

Arc de Triomphe LOCATION
Place Charles de Gaulle75008 Paris, France
The arch is centered in a roundabout so if you're able to navigate across the road to it you're one of the brave (those cars stop for no one). The arch is beautiful and much bigger in person than imagined. The artwork and design that went into this monument is true craftsmanship.

Arc de Triomphe

Statue of Liberty LOCATION
Pont de Grenelle | Ile des Cygnes75015 Paris, France

It's awesome to see the statue of liberty in France. We saw it from our cruise boat on the river. It's what we have in common with the French. If you are an American, or have ever been taken in by the grandeur, beauty and meaning of the Statue of Liberty, you owe it to yourself to see her smaller doppelganger. A 1/4 sized version given to France by the US, this was one of the working models in the construction of the one in New York. The park is a pleasant place to walk, the statue is at the end and offers some good views down the Seine, and it is FREE. If you don't want to stand in the lines for the Tour Eiffel (or if you just want to get out of the crowds) walk the few blocks along the Seine and check her out.

Obelisk of Luxor LOCATION
Place de la Concorde, 75008 Paris, France75008 Paris, France

The place de la Concorde is a great square in the middle of Paris where the statue of the King once stood before being replaced by the Guillotine. Now the Obelisk of Luxor is the centerpiece and a great one it is. Certainly the history it has is great but the gold pyramid top that makes it perfect for pictures.

National Wallace Monument LOCATION
Hillfoots Road | Abbey CraigStirling FK9 5LF, Scotland

What an astonishing view from the top of Wallace monument down to Stirling city and river Forth. We learn a lot of Scotland's history and why William Wallace is the national hero. It's hard to go all the way to the top but it's worth it.A big of a hike up to this monumnet but well worth it. There is 246 steps to climb to get to the top but there is levels which have rooms that have historic things in, unfortunately when we got to the top it was very cloudy :( But the different things in the levels are worth the climb.

Magnificent is the only word to describe this statue standing on its mountain of red granite it is a sight to behold. Behind sits Prince Albert and to the left Union Terrace Gardens leading onto Union Street.

Skara Brae LOCATION
Skara Brae B9056Stromness KW16 3LR, Scotland

This has been open to the public for a long time and is worth a visit if it's quiet. The reconstruction is good, as is the cafe. The beach is beautiful too. The Ness of Brodgar will probably eventually overtake this site in importance and number of visitors but in the meantime, Skara Brae is where to go to see a fairly intact stone age village all year
Skara Brae

St Andrews Links LOCATION
Pilmour HouseSt Andrews KY16 9SF, Scotland
Only a golfer can fully appreciate the nostalgia and history of St Andrews golf. 6 Courses all gems and all links style off the ocean. Cannot get on the old course with the lottery; just walk over to the New Couse which is a little longer and maybe a tad more difficult. Or you can go to the Old Course house and wait around. August is the most difficult month due to Tournaments and best weather. The Castle course has the best ocean and town views but is pricey.

The Scottish Crannog Centre LOCATION
South Tay Road | Loch Tay, Nr AberfeldyKenmore PH15 2HY, Scotland
The Scottish Crannog Centre is an authentically recreated Crannog on Loch Tay. Visitors have a chance to browse the exhibition setting the Crannogs in context before being taken out to the Crannog by a guide. Ours was very comprehensive and explained the concept and construction of the Crannog in a wonderfully atmospheric setting. Once back on dry land we were shown skills such as lathe turning and fire making. The centre includes a cafe and a shop. A great visit boosted by the enthusiasm of the guides.

Inchcolm Abbey and Island LOCATION
Hawes PierSouth Queensferry, Edinburgh EH30 9TB, Scotland

Wonderful place for scenic photos. Plenty of places to enjoy a picnic and take in the views. Lovely walk round the island that wasn't too rugged. Abbey was great to explore . Lovely way to spend a couple of hours , An ideal place for a trip down the River Forth and the Abbey ruins are very interesting as part of the religous history of Scotland. The old WWI/II buildings tell the more recent history. Beware the wildlife, the nesting birds can be quite aggresive at times.

Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh LOCATION
20 Inverleith RowEdinburgh EH3 5LR, Scotland
The Royal Botanic Garden was part of our Hop-On Hop-Off pass. I don't know that I would have went there had it not been. I'm glad it was. It was a very beautiful place with lush, well kept grounds. Lots to walk through and see. It is the home of New Reekie the stinky plant. It is something you have to see if you get a chance. It is huge! The smell wasn't on when I was there but I think it was still in the beginning stages. This place had some of the most interesting plants and flowers that I have ever seen.

Inverewe Garden LOCATION
Poolewe IV22 2LG, Scotland
This garden is lovely. Because of it's microclimate they can grow many plants you would not expect so far north. Lovely and well tended. The formal garden is quite small but the wider, wilder grounds are much larger, allowing for a decent walk and fabulous views. Not all the grounds are accessible but the garden's map does identify suitable paths. The house is well worth a visit too.

Duthie Park Winter Gardens LOCATION
Duthie Park Polmuir RoadAberdeen AB11 7TH, Scotland.
The Duthie Park Winter Gardens are fascinating. There are a number of sections laid out so that you can walk through a humid tropical area to an arid desert area with lots of cacti, then a temperate zone. There is also a Japanese garden and a pool with koi carp in it. You can get married in there too which must be a lovely setting.
