Top 5 Amazing Places to Visit in Belarus Europe

Victory Square LOCATION
Minsk, Belarus
This is an iconic memorial to the fallen Belorussian veterans of WWII. It is located in the center of Minsk.
Designed by Zair Azgur (go to the museum of his work on the upper side of Gorky Park to find out more about him and his work), this obelisk on an island where Independence Avenue and Zakharu Street meet commemorates the liberation of Minsk in 1944-45 by the Red army and Belarussian partisans.

Minsk-Arena Complex LOCATION
Minsk, Belarus
Good place for almost all kinds of sport. Of course ice hockey is preferable. Very good acoustics, you can see well from all seats what's going on at the arena.Arena was built in 2010 and still remains a modern 15000-seater complex mainly for ice hockey games, other sports and entertainment shows. If you have a chance to go on a HC Dinamo home game, don't miss it! Some people say, it's the one of the best arenas in Europe.

National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus
A very grand opera and ballet house, with free car park, hugely well-organised free cloakroom (bespeaking a cold winter climate, perhaps) and very efficient staff, who are more than tolerant of ignorant foreigners. Prices are egalitarian: for admission and a fortiori at the bar during the interval, certainly for local drinks. Ballet really is for everybody in Minsk and the performance of Swan Lake was superb, and well-received by a very mixed, unpretentious and well-behaved audience. Do not miss, it is more than 'worth a detour' even for one whose enthusiasm for ballet is lukewarm at best!

Monument to Fallen Jewish People on March 2, 1942  LOCATION
Corner of Zaslavskaya St, and Melnikaite StMinsk, Belarus
On March 2, 1942, Five Thousand Jews in the Minsk ghetto were taken to that exact spot and murdered by the Nazis... in 1947, an Obelisk was erected on that spot with writing in Russian and Yiddish. Even though this project was initially approved by the authorities, a few years later, creators were imprisoned for stating that “Jews” were murdered, rather then “Soviet Citizens”. However, the obelisk remained in its original form. In 2000, a bronze sculpture was created entitled The Final Path, depicting the victims descending to their deaths… Around the perimeter there is a Martyr Valley, with names of those who were hiding Jews from the Nazis, risking and often loosing their lives in the process. Very powerful and touching commemoration.
